Move over fashion and lifestyle Instragrammers it’s becoming all about the book clubs on social media this year. Did you know there was such a thing called Booktube? Or did you know that a lot of celebrities run social book clubs? Both of these I didn’t know until a few weeks ago, so it got me thinking about Instagram book clubs and which ones are worth following. I’ve always read books, I grew up reading Jacqueline Wilson (hands up if you did too) and, of course, read every Harry Potter before hitting on Twilight in my teens (sigh, Edward Cullen!). I truly wished and still wish for that matter that I was Matilda and could spend my days reading. Literacy has always been an escape for myself, my friends and so many others and I personally find finishing a book such an accomplishment and something I want to boast about. My ‘Want to Read’ list on Goodreads is ever growing and I love browsing through Waterstones for hours, but now us book lovers can finally dig out new novels to indulge in thanks to these addictive (and pretty) book clubs.
So switch off your phone, grab a cosy reading spot and start getting through some of the great recommendations from the best book clubs on Instagram.
1. Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club
Talk about book shelf goals! Reese Witherspoon’s book club, @reesesbookclubxhellosunshine, is one you need to follow. They have monthly book picks and Q&A’s with authors. Not only is the feed colourful but it also features some great pull-out quotes and funny GIFs any book worm can relate too.
2. Emma Watson’s Book Club
Any fans of Emma Watson should know that she loves a book, especially one that is educational, inspirational and all about empowerment. For her book club, @outsharedshelf, Emma engages her followers/club members by posting questions about the feminist book for that month to start conversations amongst readers and authors.
3. Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss’s Book Club
The two co-run the @belletrist book club, which is all about discovering and discussing, is a great way of celebrating good books and joining in on Q&A’s with authors and sharing your opinion of the monthly novels. Not only is their feed pretty but they also share some great book stores across America you need to visit that are totally heavenly.
4. Poppy Loves London’s Book Club
Poppy is a London based blogger and is a top social media influencer who runs the @poppylovesbookclub. This worldwide club has one of THE most gorgeous Instagram feeds and is all about showing you the best independent book stores from around the world. Join in discussion about the monthly books via the Facebook group and you’ll soon be spending all your spare money on the recommendations by Poppy and club members.
5. The All-Ladies Book Club
Unlike the other book clubs on the list the @ladieslitsquad is a club that actually has meet-ups to discuss current reads and have Q&A’s with the authors. Run by Sheree Milli, this is a members only club which you can sign up for annual membership and join in on the meet up (with the hope of grabbing a free book Sheree might have too). Join in on this growing club and prepare for your Want-To-Read list to grow – and quickly!
